This morning the BBC shared an article outlining the full extent of the NHS dentistry shortage following far reaching research they have undertaken. The result of this won’t come as a great surprise to anyone who has recently tried to access NHS dentistry in the UK however the reality is that living with dental pain will impact your employees wellbeing, both in terms of their physical and mental wellbeing, having a knock on effect on their work and home life.
We are all aware that we are in the middle of a financial crisis, and for many employees they simply do not have the funds to pay for private dentistry treatment. The article published this morning explained that many people are taking to self dentistry, pulling out their own teeth, in an attempt to rid themselves of the pain.
Offering either a voluntary (via payroll deduction) or company funded dental policy which enables your employee access to private dental treatment will mean they can have the treatment they need quickly and return back to full physical and mental health much quicker.
Our recent EBCam Employee Benefits and Rewards survey found that 45% of respondents currently offer dental insurance, with a further 12% saying they do not currently but would like to.
