EBCam are keen to support the next generation of finance professionals by providing work experience for local students. During June 2023, Hugo Juan from year 11 at Ipswich School and Jacob Boulton from year 10 at Sawston Village College spent some time at our Bury St Edmunds office, working alongside the employee benefits team and the private client team. Everyone was extremely impressed with our students and would like to thank them for their enthusiasm and willingness to learn. We wish Hugo and Jacob all the best for the future.
Hugo (pictured) wrote a blog about his time at EBCam:
Hello, I am Hugo Juan from Ipswich School, I have just finished a week of work experience at EBCam after completing my final GCSE examinations. Prior to my starting at EBCam I was questionable about whether this kind of work would be of interest to me but quickly I realised I enjoyed this line of work extremely and saw how rewarding it could be. In my time at EBCam I have done a wide range of tasks ranging from learning how the online systems they use work, to sitting in on a variety of different meetings. My favourite tasks have got to be sitting in on meetings where I got to see how the directors dealt with clients. I made notes during all the meetings I attended, writing questions as I went which were all answered at the end by which ever director gave the meeting. In this time, I have learnt so much about the employee benefits side of financial services as well as more about the individual advice side, which has allowed me to takeaway lots of valuable lessons about the industry. Which has ultimately allowed me to see this as a potential future career as it is an industry which I find most interesting, and I would not have been able to come to this conclusion without spending a week at EBCam.
